Ice Queen
Going into this shoot I hate to say it but I had expectations. I thought there was going to be more ICE, I thought the only colours were going to be white, silver and blue. I didn't think we were going to do red roses or glitter, but I am surprisingly okay with the way things turned out. So a little tip to all starting out or high end professional photographers out there, never go into it with expectations, going with the flow can sometimes mean more magic and creativity. I find whenever I do a stylized shoot it really helps my inspiration when I have to go back to work and do weddings or engagements, sometimes we need to go back to the basics and find our spark again.
The reason I wanted to do this shoot was to see what I could accomplish with different props/makeup. The talented makeup artist behind this shoot is the lovely @MakeupByMissLu. A few years ago I had the privilege of meeting Aprille while she was looking for a photographer for her wedding. Since I photographed her wedding we have become the closest of friends, she now does all the makeup for our stylized shoots. As you can tell from the shot above she is a very talented lady! We had an idea in mind, we bought all the props we needed and we went to work! Firstly, this type of shoot takes a lot of work and a lot of planning! Was it worth it? I think so. To build a portfolio and to be able to have so many unique sessions like this one really makes people think we can do anything! It's not only the props, planning, makeup and lighting that went into this, it was also days, hours and long nights spent tirelessly editing every single spec.
It's actually a lot of fun seeing it all come together, and the work always pays off. The beautiful model behind these images is @JuliaSiemens. This beautiful lady had never been behind a camera for a stylized shoot before, I have a feeling she did an incredible job! Super easy going and such a pleasure to work with!
